Only weeks ago fires in the Amazon darkened the sky over Sao Paulo, turning day into night for millions of residents. Forrest clearance is a global problem, and often instigated as part of unsustainable food production for large consumer markets. Grazing the Amazon provides a rare insight into the cultural and historical implications of the unsustainable cattle industry in the Amazon. Whilst also critically considering aspects of profit, corruption, urban consumer demands, and failed policies, the film offers a better understanding of the complex factors behind the continuous clearance of one of our planet’s most vital natural resources.
